Kiki was the beloved dog of Saran Nurse, the owner of Kiki’s Pet Spa & Boutique. As an only child growing up in Guyana, Saran often longed for sibling companionship and would always pester her parents for a brother or sister. Eventually, when she was fifteen years old, her mother finally conceded and to Saran’s surprise she came home one day to find her new sibling – a sweet, loving, black and white daschund mix dog she later named Kiki. From the time Kiki entered her life, Saran was never the same again – Kiki and Saran were inseparable, Kiki would go everywhere Saran did, they would sleep in the same bed together and Kiki even had her place at the dinner table right at Saran’s feet. It wasn’t until Saran left for college that Kiki and Saran were separated but their bond always remained strong and whenever Saran would return home Kiki would run in circles at the first sight, or smell, of Saran. Kiki led a long life basking in the Caribbean sun – she loved to spend her days chasing birds. Kiki died at the age of fifteen, just a few years after the first store in Fort Greene Brooklyn bearing her name was established. Although Kiki may be gone she still lives on in the hearts of all those who loved her and will always be remembered. Kiki helped Saran develop her unconditional love for animals which is largely what motivated her to conceptualize Kiki's Pet Spa & Boutique - where even the most demanding pet will leave pleased! A graduate of both the New York School of Dog Grooming and the Master of Business Administration program (MBA) of Georgetown University, Saran has an intimate knowledge of the dog grooming trade as well as a solid understanding of the fundamentals of marketing and business management. Having spent the past twelve years in a variety of corporate functions (including Associate Buyer for Federated Department Stores and Senior Marketing Manager for American Express) she felt it was time for a different type of challenge. Although Kiki's is not her first entrepreneurial endeavor, as she will enthusiastically say to you - it is the one for which she holds the most passion.
